BMA - How to help in Haiti - 19 Jan
Source
The recent earthquake in Haiti has had a devastating impact and BMA members are encouraged to support the relief effort.
Health professionals with previous training and experience in emergency relief work should refer to humanitarian aid organisation websites such as www.merlin.org.uk or www.msf.org.uk on how to register to work as part of an emergency response team. Merlin's emergency response team is now full but they are looking for individuals for the next phase of their response in Haiti.
Support can also be provided by donating to the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) Haiti Earthquake Appeal website at www.dec.org.uk or telephone 0370 60 60 900
Relief agencies cannot take inexperienced health professionals and BMA members who wish to gain the relevant skills to undertake humanitarian work in the future can contact the International Department for careers and employment advice at internationalinfo@bma.org.uk
