Devon Local Medical Committee

Vacancies - 2 x GPs needed HMS Raleigh - Torpoint

HMS Raleigh has a requirement for two Civilian General Practitioners to assist the Principal Medical Officer in delivering healthcare to Royal Navy and Royal Marine personnel and new Royal Navy recruits. The Medical Centre at HMS Raleigh is a well appointed five-doctor practice with strong primary care training, young person and sports medicine focus and is located in the beautiful surroundings of south east Cornwall.

You will be expected to carry out primary care duties within the medical centre and to offer advice and support to the training organisation and line management. There are two co-located full-time physiotherapists and a robust rehabilitation team, as well as a dedicated gymnasium and a five-strong nursing immunisation team led by experienced practice nurses. We host a visiting podiatry/sport biomechanics clinic and also have regular CPN counselling. The centre also maintains a 10-bed, low-dependancy ward and is a dispensing practice.

You will run a routine early evening clinic approximately once a week and also contribute to an out-of-hours rota providing largely telephone triage advice to Medica branch ratings – which will attract an additional out-of-hours payment. There will also be an opportunity to offer cross coverage to our linked practice at Britannia Royal Naval College in Dartmouth.

You will need full unrestricted GP registration with the GMC and must be a full member of a Performers list. Knowledge of Underwater Medicine and Aviation Medicine would be an advantage, but is not essential. Familiarity with EMIS PCS preferred but training will be provided. You must be able to demonstrate effective participation in continuing medical education. You will also be required to undertake an enhanced CRB check.

This post is full-time but open to part-time and job share. For further information, please contact James Smith, Practice Manager, on 01752 811392/228 -  e-mail: ral-medcpo@nrta.mod.uk

If you are unable to send your CV online, please send to PPPA People Services, Spur 11, J Block, Foxhill, Bath BA1 5AB. CVs received without an accompanying application form will not be accepted.
