Integrated Health: Putting People First - The Kings Fund, London 13-14 May 2009

The Prince’s Foundation for Integrated Health - First Annual Conference
Integrated Health: Putting People First
The Kings Fund, London 13-14 May 2009
Update - 1 May
Speakers now include HRH The Prince of Wales, Senator Barbara Mikulski (chair of the Integrative Care Committee for the Senate Health Committee) and also Roger Daltry of the WHO as well as Peter Hain, Sir Michael Marmot and numerous others!
Integrated health is a response to the changing patterns of disease in the early 21st century. It recognises the role that the health service plays in promoting good health and treating illnesses and it also recognises that the answer to illness rarely lies in taking tablets alone, but rather in addressing lives in the round.
This can often call for lateral thinking on the part of practitioners, finding innovative ways to bring people back to health.
This approach presents challenges for the general public and healthcare practitioners and this is the theme of the conference; how can true integration be put into action and how can we really make a difference to so many lives?
It’s a big idea. It’s complex. It often calls for unlikely alliances. But there is a growing group of people who are putting integrated health into practice, in all its guises. This conference will be exploring the ways it can be done.
Speakers will include
Dr Phil Hammond, Sir Michael Marmot, Rt Hon Peter Hain MP, Professor Karol Sikora, Dame Donna Kinnair, Dame Carol Black, Sir Cyril Chantler. And a special guest
