- PVL Panton Valentine Staphylococcus aureus. This is a boil producing staphylococcus aureus that is giving rise to an increasing number of problems for the public. As healthcare professionals you will probably see many cases of boils. Some clinicians will be aware of this but others may not have come across this as yet – posted Dec 08.
- Meningitis B vaccination trial. A new vaccine has been developed by Novaratis Vaccines and Diagnostics. This trial will be taking place in Exeter for the South West. The vaccine trial will be starting shortly and the process of recruiting volunteers is under way and being supported by the South West medicines for Children research Network – posted Dec 08.
